Open PhD Position
The Institute of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Zürich offers a PhD position in the area of Inorganic/Materials Chemistry. We investigate the synthesis and the formation pathways of nanostructured oxidic materials and their organic-inorganic composites at the interface of Inorganic/Materials/Bioinorganic Chemistry.
Nanoscale transition metal oxides and the corresponding polyoxometalates (POMs) possess a wide range of properties leading to technical applications (e.g. catalysis, battery, sensor technology). Your project will be focused on their tunable and predictive synthesis, and mechanistic studies will be conducted in an international network of collaborations. Thus, you can experience hands-on preparative work, crystallographic studies, spectroscopic techniques and application-oriented screening. You should hold a degree in the field of inorganic or materials chemistry, and you should be fluent in written and spoken English. The first year annual salary is SFr. 34’200 (duration: 3 years).
